The Level 2 in Health & Social Care is aimed at Care Assistants and Support Workers currently working within the care industry, looking to attain a nationally recognised qualification. The focus of the Level 2 in Health & Social Care is to assess and guide the development of skills and knowledge relating to the health and social care workforce and confirming the learners competence. The Level 2 in Health & Social Care is the standard entry level care qualification.

Learners must achieve a minimum of 46 credits to gain the Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults) for England, N. Ireland and Wales. In England learners need to complete mandatory units and follow a general qualification or have the opportunity to specialise for example in learning disabilities or dementia care. Wales and N. Ireland learners need to complete the mandatory units and have a choice of optional competence and knowledge units covering health and social care. In Wales it is a requirement that learners working within the adult social care sector must achieve Introductory Awareness of Sensory Loss to complete the award. Health or Social care learners in N. Ireland or England and Health care learners in Wales are not required to achieve this unit and can elect units of their choice. The QCF diploma is the required qualification for registration and regulatory requirements in the social care.
