Withdrawing Job offers over Safeguarding Concerns
Safeguarding issues are becoming a central part of modern recruitment—especially for roles involving vulnerable individuals, sensitive information, or regulated environments. But what should employers do when a safeguarding concern appears after a job offer has already been made?
This webinar provides practical, legally grounded guidance on when and how employers can withdraw job offers due to safeguarding concerns, while staying compliant and fair. We’ll define what qualifies as a safeguarding concern, how to assess risk, and what steps organizations must follow to avoid discrimination, bias, or procedural mistakes.
Participants will gain clarity on navigating background check results, interpreting risk indicators, and managing difficult conversations with candidates. We’ll also cover the ethical balance between an individual’s rights and an employer’s duty of care.
You will learn:
What counts as a safeguarding concern in hiring
The difference between conditional and unconditional offers
How to evaluate and document risk fairly
Best practices for communicating withdrawal decisions
Common mistakes that lead to legal or reputational issues
This session is ideal for HR teams, safeguarding officers, hiring managers, and anyone involved in vetting or final hiring decisions.
Join us to understand how to handle one of recruitment’s most sensitive challenges—responsibly, consistently, and confidently.
Learner Workshops
If you’re feeling stuck at any point in your qualification, these Learner Workshops are here to guide you through every stage of your programme. You’ll receive a proper induction that helps you understand how your course works and exactly what’s expected in your units, assessments, and workplace observations.
If you’re just getting started and feeling unsure about where to begin, how to approach an assignment, or what your assessor will be looking for, these sessions walk you through everything step by step. You’ll also have access to learner drop-in sessions where you can bring your own questions, talk through challenges, and get direct tutor support whenever you need it.
These workshops are open to learners studying a Level 2–5 Diploma in Adult Care, CMI qualifications, CYP courses, or Rapid Induction training. By the end of your workshop session, you’ll know exactly what to do in your next unit, how to prepare for your workplace observation, what evidence to gather, and how to complete your assessments without second-guessing yourself.
