CMI Level 3 - FAQ
The CMI Level 3 is an internationally recognised qualification that builds essential first-line leadership skills. It helps supervisors and team leaders manage teams effectively, support staff, and contribute to high-quality, CQC-compliant care services.
The CMI level 3 qualification is most suitable for aspiring or current first-line managers, team leaders, supervisors, and senior carers who want to develop practical leadership skills and progress in their career.
You must be aged 16+ with a good standard of written English. No formal qualifications are required, although completing a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care is highly beneficial.
You can study the CMI Level 3 Award (shorter, focused on 1–2 units) or the CMI Level 3 Certificate (broader coverage with more units).
The Level 3 CMI Award requires a minimum of 40 Total Unit Time (TUT) hours. The Certificate requires a minimum of 130 TUT hours. Most learners complete it within 6–9 months on a self-paced basis.
There are no formal exams. Assessment is through practical written assignments, case studies, reflective accounts, and workplace-based tasks relevant to your role.
