Health & Social Care Training Throughout England

Skills for Care Government Funded Rapid Induction Training

As a Skills for Care endorsed Centre of Excellence, we have been informed that we have again been selected to deliver their FULLY FUNDED rapid induction training to care sector providers. The opportunity for care employers to book their staff onto this Care Certificate “mandatory” training will begin immediately.

The training is designed to provide support to care organisations that are taking on new staff or who have been redeploying existing staff in new areas and need Care Certificate training.

What is Care Certificate Training?

According to Skills for Care, the Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours that are expected of those who work in the health and social care sector. It is made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are new to the care sector. These standards are:

  • Understand your role
  • Your personal development
  • Duty of care
  • Equality and diversity
  • Work in a person centred way
  • Communication
  • Privacy and dignity
  • Fluids and nutrition
  • Awareness of mental health, dementia, and learning disabilities
  • Safeguarding adults
  • Safeguarding children
  • Basic life support
  • Health and safety
  • Handling information
  • Infection prevention and control

The training is delivered via live tutor-led 1-hour webinar workshops with supporting inclusive eLearning modules and recordings made available to all attendees. The courses are flexibly designed and are organised at various times across the week to encourage participation and to be able to meet employers needs.

Access Skills’ sector partner Quality Compliance Systems (QCS) also provides a part of the resource package to attendees, including access to its operational policy and practice tool kits that are relevant to each of the course topics.

Having now delivered these webinars to several thousand attendees, Access Skills has considerable experience in delivering these programmes. We find that lots of people have surprised themselves with how easy accessing and participating in these sessions is when using mobile devices. Many may not have had much experience of using webinar /conference systems, and have had reservations about using it.

However, they have found it to be really simple and have appreciated the flexibility in the regularity and timing of the webinar workshops. Feedback from attendees has been really positive such as:

‘It’s been great to be able to interact with others experiencing the same sort of problems.’

‘Very well presented, easy to understand and very helpful, I am enjoying my Webinar experience.’

‘Excellent teaching, I retained the information, I would recommend these Webinars, I am very impressed, thank you for an enjoyable learning experience’.

Knowing that we’ve been able to help individuals start in and remain working in the care sector, and support the most vulnerable in our society in these difficult times, has been heartening.

We begin delivering these free rapid induction Care Certificate training programmes again in July onwards.
